Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT)
Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT) is a form of cognitive-behavioural therapy developed by psychologist Albert Ellis. It is an action-oriented approach to manage cognitive, emotional, and behavioural disturbances. It focuses on identifying and challenging irrational beliefs that lead to emotional distress, replacing them with rational and constructive thinking patterns.
It focuses on being in the present and emphasises that our emotions are influenced by our thoughts rather than external events. REBT addresses unhealthy emotions and maladaptive behaviours like unhealthy anger, depression, anxiety, guilt, procrastination, addictive behaviours, aggression, unhealthy eating, sleep disturbance, etc. and leads individuals towards emotional well being.
